In addition to standard 911 / emergency response, Washington County Ambulance District provides Critical Care Transport Services to the most seriously ill patients in our county and region. Our team has received additional education in Critical Care Transport medicine beyond the standard EMS scope of practice. The grand majority of the CCT Providers at WCAD hold national board certifications based upon their primary license (CCP-C, FP-C, CCRN, CTRN and/or CFRN).
We staff our CCT resource based on the request type. We maintain the flexibility to add additional resources based on the needs of each patient, providing custom-tailored and individualized care. For example, any intubated patient on a ventilator will have, at minimum, two CCT providers managing his or her treatment.
Our Critical Care Transport Team has the following resources and abilities:
Our CCT ambulances carry a diverse array of medications reserved for critically ill patients. We also have the equipment and training to maintain nearly all medication infusions initiated by a sending facility.
